Behind the Scenes: How Is Your Product Manufactured Before Shipment?

When customers receive a finished cosmetic bottle, they usually see only the final result: a clean surface, consistent color, clear logo and secure packaging. However, before each bottle is ready for shipment, it must go through a series of carefully managed production and finishing processes.

At Guangzhou Anzell Cosmetic Packaging Materials Co., Ltd., our glass bottles are processed step by step according to the confirmed product specifications and customization requirements. From bottle forming to final packaging, every stage plays an important role in the appearance, functionality and overall quality of the finished product.

Below is a behind-the-scenes look at how your customized glass packaging is manufactured before shipment.

1. Bottle Forming and Blowing

The production process begins with bottle forming and blowing.

Molten glass is placed into a mold and shaped under controlled production conditions. Air pressure is then used to form the glass into the required bottle structure. The mold determines important product details, including:

  • Bottle shape
  • Bottle capacity
  • Neck size
  • Thread structure
  • Bottle height and diameter
  • Wall thickness and overall proportions

During this stage, production parameters must be carefully controlled to maintain a consistent bottle shape and reduce visible defects.

After forming, the bottles are gradually cooled to help release internal stress and improve structural stability. The finished empty bottles are then prepared for the following processing steps.

2. Bottle Washing

Before surface decoration begins, the bottles must be cleaned thoroughly.

Dust, glass particles, oil and other residues may affect the adhesion and appearance of later treatments. Therefore, the bottles are washed and prepared to ensure that their surfaces are clean.

After washing, the bottles are dried completely. A clean and dry surface is particularly important for frosting, color coating and logo printing. Even a small amount of dust or moisture may cause uneven decoration or reduce printing quality.

3. Frosting Treatment

For customers looking for a soft, elegant and premium appearance, frosting can be applied to the glass surface.

The frosting process reduces the transparency of the original glass and creates a smooth, matte visual effect. Frosted bottles are widely used for skincare products, facial serums, essential oils, perfumes and other cosmetic packaging.

Depending on the product design, frosting can be applied to:

  • The entire bottle
  • Selected areas of the bottle
  • Transparent glass bottles
  • Colored glass bottles
  • Bottles that will receive additional coating or printing

After frosting, the bottle surface is checked for consistency. The finished appearance should be even, without obvious untreated areas, stains or irregular marks.

4. Spray Painting and Color Coating

Spray painting allows cosmetic brands to create customized bottle colors that match their visual identity and product positioning.

Before mass production, the color is normally confirmed according to the approved sample or specified color reference. The bottles are then coated under controlled conditions to create a consistent finish.

Available effects may include:

  • Glossy colors
  • Matte colors
  • Transparent or translucent colors
  • Gradient finishes
  • Metallic effects
  • Solid-color coatings
  • Soft-touch visual effects

During production, the coating must be applied evenly across the bottle surface. Special attention is given to the bottle shoulder, body and bottom areas, where uneven spraying can be more noticeable.

After painting, the bottles are dried or cured according to the coating requirements. They are then checked for color consistency, scratches, dust spots, exposed glass and uneven coverage.

5. Silk-Screen Printing

Once the bottle surface is ready, the customized logo and product information can be applied through silk-screen printing.

Silk-screen printing is commonly used for:

  • Brand logos
  • Product names
  • Capacity markings
  • Ingredient information
  • Decorative patterns
  • Instructions and symbols

The printing position, size and color are confirmed before mass production. During printing, the bottle must be properly aligned so that the artwork appears in the correct location.

After printing, the ink is cured to improve adhesion and durability. The printed area is then inspected for common issues such as unclear text, missing ink, incorrect positioning, uneven color or blurred edges.

In addition to silk-screen printing, other decoration options may be available, including hot stamping, labeling and customized surface finishing.

6. Full Inspection

After all processing and decoration steps have been completed, the bottles enter the full inspection stage.

This is one of the most important steps before packaging. Each bottle is visually checked to identify products that do not meet the confirmed quality requirements.

The inspection may cover:

Bottle appearance

The glass surface is checked for visible defects, deformation, cracks, chips, stains or other appearance issues.

Bottle shape and structure

The bottle body, shoulder, neck and bottom are examined to ensure that the overall structure is correct and stable.

Coating quality

Painted bottles are checked for consistent color, complete coverage, scratches, peeling, dust spots and uneven spray effects.

Printing quality

The logo and text are checked for clarity, position, color and completeness.

Bottle neck and closure compatibility

The neck finish and thread structure are checked to confirm that the selected cap, dropper, pump or other closure can be assembled correctly.

Overall consistency

Finished bottles from the same order should maintain a consistent appearance, including bottle color, logo placement and decoration effect.

Products that do not meet the required standard are separated before packaging.

7. Packaging

After inspection, the qualified bottles are prepared for packaging.

Glass packaging requires careful protection because the products may pass through several transportation and handling stages before reaching the customer. Suitable internal dividers, trays, protective materials and export cartons are selected according to the bottle shape and order requirements.

During packaging, the bottles are arranged carefully to reduce movement and contact between individual units. Cartons are then sealed and labeled to support order identification, warehouse management and shipment preparation.

For large-volume orders, the packed cartons may be placed on pallets or loaded directly into shipping containers according to the agreed transportation plan.

Before shipment, the quantity, carton information and packing arrangement are checked again.
